Chemistry

Semester:
Fall and Spring

Prerequisite: Algebra 1 or Concurrent Enrollment and Biology

Course Description: Chemistry provides students with the foundational knowledge of chemistry through practical applications and inquiry-based investigations into phenomena seen in everyday life as well as in lab-based settings. Students gain foundational chemistry knowledge and skills in the following areas: states of matter, mixtures, the origin of matter, the periodic table of elements, chemical bonding, intermolecular interactions, understanding chemical formulas and names, reaction chemistry, energy transfer within chemical systems, equilibrium, thermodynamics, and rates of reactions. This course is designed for students who are interested in chemistry but are not necessarily planning to take an introductory college chemistry course in the near future.
