DMACC Composition I

Considerations: This is an elective, concurrent course: students earn college credit for DMACC English 105 (Composition I) as well as Boone High English credit.This course is offered only fall semester. During the semester, students can expect frequent reading and writing assignments.

This college-level course introduces students to the fundamentals of rhetoric. Students analyze writing, identifying and explaining authors’ use of rhetorical strategies; students apply these strategies in their own writing—expository, analytical, and argumentative compositions. Process writing (brainstorming, drafting, revision, peer and teacher review, and editing) is emphasized.
