Course Description: Marine biology will introduce students to marine ecosystems and the dynamic possibilities for life in the earth’s coastal and oceanic environment through the study of organisms, their conditions, and ecology. Areas of study might include the world’s oceans, chemical and physical factors, the evolution of life, marine plants, invertebrates and vertebrates, ecology, beaches, dunes, rocky shores, coral reefs, and marine biomes, marine mining, and marine farming. Emphasis is placed on the basic principles allowing us to understand the processes shaping and effecting life in marine environments. The class will require public speaking and frequent dissection.
