Introduction to Theatre

Introduction to Theatre provides an overview of the art, conventions, and history of the theatre. Course topics include: general history, major developments in dramatic literature, major playwrights, acting techniques and genres, theatre tech and construction, careers in the performing arts, the evolution of theatre as a cultural tradition, and critical appreciation of the art. Starting from the earliest forms of performance, this class will explore different aspects of the stage, the people who make it happen, and the spectacle that we know as "theatre".
