Semester:
Fall and Spring

Prerequisite: Psychology and approved by the instructor.

Course Description: This course is designed to introduce students to the systematic and scientific study of the behavior and mental processes of human beings and other animals. Students are exposed to the psychological facts, principles, and phenomena associated with each of the major subfields within psychology. They also learn about the ethics and methods psychologists use in their science and practice.

Experienced high school college and university instructors of psychology who serve as members of the AP Psychology Development Committee have selected the material. In their judgment, the material reflects the content of a typical introductory college course in psychology.

An optional AP exam may be taken at the conclusion of the course in an effort to obtain college credit.

Intro to Psychology is the prerequisite for this course. Students graduating in 2020 and beyond must have completed this credit to take AP Psychology unless explicit permission is received from the instructor of AP Psychology to waive the Intro course.
