Prerequisites: English 1A and 1B
This course continues to develop skills in literary analysis, writing, speaking, and listening. Throughout the year, students will read and analyze plays, novels, short stories, and rhetoric. Throughout the year students will practice writing skills, with particular emphasis on the literary analysis essay and research skills.

Course Desription: This is a course designed for students that struggle with English core concepts (reading, writing, speaking, listening). Student will not request this course. This course is assigned for student who need it.
Considerations: This option is for 9th graders who seek enrichment in language arts. Honors English 1A is highly recommended for students who plan to take DMACC Literature, DMACC Creative Writing, and/ or DMACC Composition/AP English Language and Composition (12th grade).
Honors English 1 students cover the English 1 curriculum. However, the honors section will provide students with more challenge and rigor. This course will develop the skills required for DMACC English courses.
